It was a draft night full of surprises, turns and trades, but at the top everything went as expected. The Detroit Pistons chose Guard Cade Cunningham as their new franchise star and thus resisted the numerous offers which Detroit received in recent days for the top pick.

The 20-year-old had fallen a bit after the Toronto Raptors had selected a slightly surprising Scottie Barnes from Floria State. In the top 3, however, there were no further surprises, Houston took Jalen Green (G-League), Cleveland grabbed CENTER EVAN MOBLEY (USC).

The Golden State Warriors kept their two Lottery Picks and threaded no trade. With Jonathan Kuminga (# 7) and Moses Moody (# 14), the DUBS chose two wing players. For surprises, Oklahoma City, which already selected the Australian playmaker Josh Giddey on 6 and the San Antonio Spurs, who pivoted the most recent player in the draft at 12 in Josh Primo.

Washington Wizards Traden Russell Westbrook to the Los Angeles Lakers
